Procedure Overview

Otoplasty repositions or reshapes the ears — most commonly to reduce prominence — improving facial balance and proportion. It's suitable for both adults and children once ear cartilage has sufficiently developed. Technique is tailored to the specific concern, whether that's overall prominence, shape irregularities, or asymmetry between the two ears.

IDEAL FOR

Patients, including children, with prominent, asymmetric or irregularly shaped ears seeking better facial balance.

How the treatment works

01

First consultation

Ear shape, position and degree of prominence are assessed, along with candidacy and timing if the patient is a child.

02

Planning

Technique and expected outcome are explained in detail. Surgery date is confirmed.

03

The procedure

Usually performed under local anaesthesia in adults, or general anaesthesia in children, typically 1 to 2 hours.

04

Recovery & follow-up

A protective headband is worn for a period after surgery, with stitches resolving on their own or removed within about a week.
